Bio
Marieke Leene is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Netherlands. She develops her background in digital art and cultural events throughout her practice as an independent artist. She delves into the interactions between the 'real world' and the digital world. She pursued a bachelor's degree in digital arts. With interests ranging from computer-made tableware to space waste, Leene's work approaches the themes in a simple, poetic and humorous manner. Driven by concept, not medium, she has turned a cow into a 3D printer, started a fighter jet company to make the sun stand still and let an AI assess paintings based on their gezelligheid. Many of her works concern habits and the illusion of intrinsic behavior, concerning how things are represented in our brain and how they are in reality, how she sees them versus how the rest of the world sees it and how a computer sees it. Selected exhibitions/events: Creative Coding Amsterdam talk at Processing (Feb 2019); '^BL 10.1 final crack(cracked by r2r).rar' (Nov 2019); BARB Podcast ABOUT:COLOR (Jun 2020); Vectorpuppets (Mar 2021); 'Hot Streams Wet Dreams' online exhibition (2021); 'The assessment / A didactic educational event' (Jun 2021); XYZ art exhibition at Marktplein Arnhem (Jun 2021); 'A Casa É Sua' (Nov–Dec 2021); 'Making the Invisible Visible' (Jul–Sep 2025).
