Fossilized Futures – Bridging Deep Time and Speculative Futures

KIKK

About

Professional panel bringing together artists and researchers Marco Barotti and Robertina Šebjanič around their collaborative project Fossilized Futures. The discussion explored how artistic research can connect deep time, contemporary ecosystems and speculative futures, using the 365-million-year-old fossil Strudiella devonica and the Meuse and Sambre river systems as starting points. The panel addressed interdisciplinary working methods across art, ecology, archaeology, biology, technology and cultural heritage, as well as questions of interspecies coexistence and humanity’s impact on aquatic and terrestrial environments. The session also offered insights into collaborative artistic research and the development of environmentally engaged new-media practices within the framework of the Co-Vision project.
