Bio

Jaume Vidal Arasa is a visual artist and designer who, since the 1990s, has maintained an artistic practice linked to contemporary art and activism in defense of ways of life and the ecosystem of the Ebro Delta. He was trained at the Escola Massana in Barcelona and holds a master's degree in Artistic Research and Production from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona. Vidal has developed a multidisciplinary practice focused on territory, heritage, and their social and symbolic implications, including projects such as 'Rice Against Machism', an artistic investigation into rice and the role of women connecting memory, cultural economy, and feminism. His career is also marked by extensive experience in music, understood as an artistic practice, a cultural scene, and a space for contemporary production. His work has been exhibited at BIAM Lo Pati (2022), Galeria Esther Montoriol (2022), the Guasch Coranty Art Biennial (2021), Cal Trepat (2016), MACBA (2016), Galeria Silvestre (2015), Centre d'Arts Santa Mònica (2015), Sala d'Art Llar (2015), the Museum of the History of Catalonia (2015), Lo Pati (2014–2017), Sala Balada (2013), Sala Sebastià Joan Arbó (2007), the Montsià Museum (2007), the Ebro Museum (2005), Sala Lola Anglada (2005), Galeria Miquel Gaspar (1999), among others. He has received the Embarrat Award (2016), the Art Jove Award from the Government of Catalonia (2005), and the Vila de Deltebre Painting Award (2005).
